Mama Mia! If I were not ____________, I would be ______________.

If I were not Scottish, I would be Italian! I love Italian food.
Tonight Brian and I made some yummy homemade ravioli.
As we were making it, I grabbed my point and shoot camera and took a few quick shots.
So...please ignore the poor photo quality! :)
I am always amazed to see my pasta dough actually glide through the pasta maker. My first attempt did not turn out so well. When I first bought the pasta maker, I invited a bunch of my girlfriends over. I had made lots of great sauces, and the plan was for us to make our own linguini. Let's just say we were ended up with a sticky mess and boxed spaghetti as a back up!
I was dying to make some ravioli today, so I looked through the fridge, found some ingredients to use for a filling, and got started!
Brian joined in to help me get them all cut out. He was the chief cutter...
...and I was the chief crimper. lol
yuuuummmm...
So...if you were not _____________, what would you be? |

How was your Christmas?

My Christmas was so wonderful - it was great being home this year. I am so lucky to have the best family in the world and it was fun having lots of time to spend with them.
We had Christmas at my granny's house on the 23rd, and that was loads of fun. We always end the night with a Chinese gift exchange which is always fun. My granny made lots of food so of course we all ate way too much. She always makes sure that she has dishes that all of us like - even us picky vegetarians! :) This is her:
The next night we went to a Christmas Eve service at our church and then headed over to my mama's house for dinner where we once again ate way too much and had a great time. This is her tree surrounded by presents.
We had breakfast and opened gifts the next morning and then had Christmas dinner at my daddy's house that night. And yes - you guessed it - we ate way too much again!
So how was your Christmas? |

EDITED: The Key West wedding is now up - see the images here.
SEE THE SLIDESHOW: ALEX AND SAM'S SLIDESHOW
This might just be the cutest couple ever.
I could be biased, but I don't think so. :)
Sometimes it's hard to believe my little brother is old enough to drive - much less old enough to be out of college for years and about to get married! I guess that makes me truly over the hill! In just a few weeks we will be heading to Key West for Alex and Sam's destination wedding, and we are so happy about it.
Yesterday I met Sam and Alex for some photos in Barwick. Barwick is a tiny town where we grew up and where Sam lives now.
It all started over ice cream and a sneaky plan devised by Jim and Jana. Jim and Jana wanted Alex and Sam to meet, so they all met up one summer day at the packing shed in Barwick where Jim was working. Jim and Jana said they wanted to make some ice cream but needed some supplies and asked Sam and Alex if they would mind going to the grocery store in Pavo to pick up a few things. Not very sneaky, but it worked!
This was my attempt to get the Barwick water tower and their reflections in a puddle, but it was so windy that I had a hard time getting a sharp image.
Then we walked around town. That took about 15 seconds. ha
Barwick is reallllly small.
I couldn't resist a shot in front of the few storefronts that is still open. This is where we have taken our pecans every year for all of our lives.
As I was getting ready to post this, I remembered that one of Alan Jackson's videos was filmed in Barwick and Pavo (the next town over). If you watch the "Little Man" video, you can see a little more of Barwick.
We were on the other side of what used to be the fillin' station. That is what we called the gas station! :) Mr. Raymond worked there, and he would fill your car up, clean your windshield, check your oil, and chat with you the entire time.
This is the side of the building that used to be the drugstore where we could get real cherry vanilla fountain drinks.
So am I right or what? They are the cutest couple aren't they?

Mary and Jamie's Charleston Wedding
|

FLORAL DESIGN: Blooming Dales
EVENT COORDINATOR: Bethe Rogers of 39 Rue de Jean
MUSICIANS: All Charleston Musicians and Charleston Duo
WEDDING CAKE: Lady Fingers
Mary and Jamie are the sweetest couple. I first met them in October when we got together to do their get to know you shoot. I have been looking forward to their wedding and knew it would be fun.
Blooming Dales did an excellent job with the floral design. The flowers were bright red and hinted of Christmas - but they were also romantic and reflective of Mary and Jamie's wedding day.
I love how excited Mary was once she slipped into her dress.
Her bridesmaids were fabulous, attentive, and excited for her too!
Mary's mom had her when she was two and a half. Just kidding!
She looks so young I thought she was Mary's sister.
Mary has a great family. Her brother was so blown away when he saw her.
And this is why...she looked gorgeous.
I love this serious look with the fall colors in the background.
We arranged for Jamie and Mary to meet before the ceremony on a secluded little pathway behind the church.
I wanted to play around with a motion shot at some point in the day, and I decided to do it here.
I shot wide open with a slow shutter speed and the result was the shot that looks a little like a watercolor.
Here comes the bride...
Mary and Jamie did a brilliant thing after the ceremony. They had their "grand exit" while leaving the church - before leaving for the reception. I thought it was great because everyone was around to blow bubbles and take part in the fun.
Dinner was at 39 Rue de Jean, one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston.
The food, the planning, and all the details were fabulous.
A few sweet toasts...
Followed by dancing...
The lighting upstairs at the restaurant is known for being one of the most challenging locations in Charleston, but no worries. I love a challenge! I decided to play around with off camera flash, and I love the results.
Okay...they are going to kill me for putting this on here, but I just couldn't resist a good crying shot. lol
I got this one when Mary was dancing with her dad.
The night concluded with a great slideshow that everyone really enjoyed.

I found a wonderful Christmas surprise at my door last week. Sally and Pierce made an advent wreath for Brian and me. We love it, and I thought I would share a picture of it with you.
Thank you Sally and Pierce! |
