Marissa and Mark: Cancun - JW Marriott: Post 2
Thursday, October 29, 2009 | Weddings

If you missed Marissa and Mark's wedding day photos, click here to see them.

Bright and early the morning after their ceremony we went out to the beach for a few more photos.  We almost missed the sunrise because of the time change, but we were able to make it out just in time!

Oops...the next two are wedding day images which is why the light and sky look different.

Just playing around with the processing on the one below to give them a little different look...

Thanks Marissa and Mark for being so much fun and for making us feel so welcome!

I'm heading out to Belize tomorrow for a vacation and to photograph a wedding, so I won't be posting on the blog for at least a week.

I will probably make a few posts on facebook.  Follow the link below to find me there:

Marissa and Mark: Cancun - JW Marriott
Thursday, October 29, 2009 | Weddings

Somedays work requires you to make lemons out of lemonade.  Marissa and Mark's wedding day was not one of those days.  :)  Although the forecast had called for thunderstorms, the weather could not have been more perfect.

We had blue skies, blue waters, mild temperature, and a wonderful salt air breeze to work with!

I started the day in Marissa's room where she and the bridesmaids were hanging out, getting ready, and having a good time.

Marissa's pretty Kate Spade shoes...

Marissa's wedding day colors were juicy and delicious...vibrant orange, hot pink, and green.  I thought fruit made a perfect backdrop for her ring shot!

The bridesmaids dresses and shoes were so colorful and fun.  I love the cute palm tree necklaces that she gave to each of her bridesmaids.

Quite possibly the perfect pre-wedding snack for the wedding party?

A champagne toast...

While the girls were getting Marissa ready to see Mark, the guys were getting ready as well...

Marissa quickly slipped into her wedding dress before heading outside to meet Mark.

I think my favorite part of the day is when couples see each other for the first time.

After Marissa and Mark spent some time together we decided to go check out the ceremony site.

Enjoying the view that their guests would have during the ceremony...

The gorgeous ceremony site...

The staff at Marriott did a great job and took care of everything for Marissa so she could totally relax and enjoy her day.  They even had chilled towels for the guests.

Again, love, love, love the colors.

As you can see, Marissa was beautiful...

Mark looked great too as he smiled as Marissa walked down the aisle.

Sand ceremony...

Mr. and Mrs. Furka...

Cocktail hour...

What would cocktail hour be in Mexico without a mariachi band?

A cerveza toast by the bride and groom.

Then everyone moved over to yet another GORGEOUS location for dinner and dancing.

Could you handle this view over dinner?  :)

More fun, colorful details...

The yumminess...

First dance...

Toasts, dinner, and fun!

Lots of crazy dancing...these people know how to have a good time!

All I have to say about the next photo is:

1. Objects in the image are closer than they appear.
2. This guy should come with a warning to photographers stamped on his forehead.  lol

Fun bridesmaids!  Hey - they were in Mexico, right?  :)

Click here to see a few photos from Marissa and Mark's day after session on the beach! :)

Does this leave you wanting to have a destination wedding in Mexico?  If so, feel free to conact Franciso Roman at the JW Marriott at franciso.roman@marriotthotels.com.  He did a great job!

Monday, October 26, 2009 | Press/Publicity

You may remember the gorgeous details from Kristen and Stephen's Charleston wedding.  The colors and details were all based on their china pattern.

I am happy to say that their designs caught the eye of the fabulous folks at Southern Weddings magazine, and one of their images will be published in the next edition which is scheduled to hit news stands November 9th.  Be sure to pick up copy - it is a wonderful magazine!

Congrats Kristen and Stephen!

Erin and Jo Ed: Nankin
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 | Couples

Saturday was a big day in south Georgia - it was opening day of deer season! :)
For my husband and the rest of the hunters, this means staying up late washing hunting clothes with non-scented soap, cleaning guns, and making all sorts of preparations for the big day so they can get up long before daylight to go freeze to death while they sit in a deer stand for hours.

Being the vegetarian, non-hunter that I am, I slept late and then drove out to Nankin for a yummy post hunt breakfast that included the creamiest, most delicious grits ever.  mmmmm....

So what/where is Nankin?  Well...it's a community that is out in the middle of nowhere between a couple of tiny towns that you probably have never heard of.  It's a beautiful place with homes scattered along winding dirt roads.  It also happens to be one of the many places I have lived in my life.

After breakfast I had an engagement session with Erin and Joe Ed.  Erin is one of the daughters of the most delicious cooker of grits (where we had breakfast after the hunt).  :)  My family and Erin's family have known each other all of our lives, so it was fun to photograph her.  Joe Ed - well - I had never met him before.  I immediately liked him though because right away he said that he wanted to do a funny shot.  We'll get to that later.

We started out on the front porch.  Could you spend some time here or what??

The old, beautiful trees were the perfect backdrop...

Of course the old barns were great too...

We were kind of brave (or stupid) to ease our way out into the woods for a few shots.

Next I beat Erin down with the weeds (I promise it was an accident) for this shot that I love...

I love the next one too...

Erin and Jo Ed were total naturals!

Nankin is all about dirt roads, so of course we had to get a few dirt road shots.

Okay... WARNING - WARNING - WARNING the next shot is Joe Ed's funny shot.  And it is indeed funny.  But...if you don't want to see (or will be offended by) a kill from a hunt...skip the next photo and scroll on down to the next.

Most people probably won't get the humor all as it involves inside humor or knowledge.  If you know Erin you will appreciate her wink and pose in the photo on the right.  As for the photo on the left - let's just say that not only does Joe Ed not hunt - he doesn't know how to shoot a gun.  He does look a little Rambo-ish though!  :)

OKAY...IT'S SAFE TO LOOK NOW!  :)

Check out Erin workin' it...

Then we let Joe Ed in a for a few more shots...

Thanks Erin and Joe Ed for putting up with me.  I'm so excited about your wedding and can't wait for January to roll around.

Cason at the River
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 | Random

{Point and Shoot Disclaimer}
Ha...sorry...but you know I always have to put a little disclaimer when posting photos taken with my little point and shoot camera!  :)

We spent last weekend down at the river.  My idea of a relaxing river weekend is sleeping a little late, reading, maybe taking the canoe down the river, and fun boat rides.  The guys have a completely different idea.  They get up before daylight every morning to go fishing for hours and hours on end.  Then when they bring their sunburned selves home - they get to head out to the fish cleaning sink at the end of the dock and fight sand gnats and clean fish.  To each his own, right?

Anyway...my uncle brought Cason to visit us Saturday.  He is my cousin's son, and he is so cute.  I snapped a quick shot of him checking out the catch of the day before they were battered up and hastily consumed.

How cute is he???

I have an engagement session this weekend with Erin and Joe Ed, so I will be sharing those with you soon so check back!
