Family Reunion: Orlando
Wednesday, August 26, 2009 | R3 Global

Although I am primarily a destination wedding and portrait photographer (my website), I also love doing corporate work on occasion.  R3 Global is a company that I love shooting for - they are all just so much fun to be around.

If you are here to view my wedding or portrait work - you can view those images by choosing from the categories section above.

Last week I went down to the Marriott World Center Resort in Orlando and stayed from Wednesday until Sunday photographing R3 Global's Family Reunion event.  R3 Global provides support for Monavie distributors, and they sure do know how to organize a powerful and entertaining learning experience.

In the post I will share Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with you.  I will post the activities from Saturday and Sunday next week.

Wednesday evening they held a Super Open Teaching and Training which was held in one of the smaller ballrooms.

The room was filled to capacity with people eager to know more about the business.  So many things go on at these events that it would take me an eternity to tell you everything, so I just hit on some highlights.

Brig introduced a special group of new friends that he and some of the black diamonds met on their bike trip.

A few participants...

I also spent part of Wednesday photographing the set up of the BIG conference room, but you'll have to wait to see those.  I will tell you that it was VERY impressive...as always.

Thursday began with a meeting of all the black diamonds.  I always love the great graphic design at these events.

Of course there was plenty of Monavie to drink and healthy food.

I'm not sure what Kim was saying...but judging by the look on Linda's face...it must have been good!

Even babies love the new Monavie energy drink!  :)
Don't worry...there is no caffiene, and it is healthy.

Checking out the Diamond Runner packet...

Later that evening, Brig and Lita hosted a dinner for all of the diamonds.

Everyone enjoyed hearing Mylon Lefevre speak.

Friday morning, we were excited to see Paul Meehan arrive - he rode his bike all the way from D.C. to raise money for the M.O.R.E. Project.

I love the expressions on his friends faces when he arrived!

A planning meeting for all the gold executives and above was held Friday.

Afterwards, Brig and Lita hosted a reception for the international attendees.

And then...the big event kicked off Friday evening.  Everyone was excited as they waited...

Tim Gidley opened with patriotic music as all the veterans in the crowd came forward to be honored.  This is always a very touching moment.

The Harts and the Merritts greeted everyone...

Brig always has great entertainment to go with the theme, and this event was no exception.  The luau dancers and fire twirlers were no exception...

New diamonds were introduced.  They are wearing leis because they win a free trip to Hawaii for attaining this level of success.

The crowd got to hear some of the blue and black diamonds tell how they made it happen.

It is always a pleasure to hear Dean Sikes speak.

Black diamond Todd Hartog told everyone all about the Diamond Runner packets...

Brig did something brand new at this event.  He chose select R3 members and their family members to perform in the first R3's Got Talent!  They all did an amazing job!

You can see a video of the song The Juice Sistahs performed here.  If anyone wants to send links to any of the other performers I will post them as well.

Randy Schroeder also gave a great talk.

Brig and Steve closed  up the event Friday night around midnight.  Take a look at your first peek at the stage design...

I will be back next week with more photos from Orlando.

Other upcoming photography posts:
-a Florida engagement session
-a fabulous wedding at the fabulously extravagant Ocean Lodge on St. Simons Island
-lots of portrait sessions

And...in case you are interested in Peach and Love news (my other business):
Guess what?  We were contacted by Southern Living Magazine last week and they are considering our fun High Cotton game to be listed in their Decemeber magazine in their gift giving guide.  We are super excited so keep your fingers crossed!

Lifestyle Baby Photography and Portraits: Grayson
Tuesday, August 11, 2009 | Children

One of the things I love about photography is being able to give people a glimpse into their lives that they might not otherwise remember.  I don't know anyone who remembers being a baby (lol), so my main goal is to capture the baby's world.

Grayson lives in a beautiful home with a cool history.

She has a great front porch for rocking!

Her parents put a lot of thought into creating a beautiful room for her...

Grayson is a cool baby.  She already has a shoe collection that would make all her friends drool - including her first set of cowboy boots.  :)

I loved this cute gift with a note that said, "We knew your baby's first sip would need to be out of sterling."  How sweet!

With that said, it's not all about fashion and silver with baby Grayson.  Nope.  This child has the brains to back up her good looks.  Check out her book collection.

Grayson has hobbies as well.

Her first hobby is having her diaper changed.

Grayson's second hobby is hanging out with her parents.  Her daddy was away at work while I was there, so she was getting some quality time in with her mama.

Her third hobby is sleeping.  Check out her cute crib friends...

How sweet are these...

Another shot of her tiny feet...

On to the next hobby.  Did I mention that Grayson is into ballet?  She already has her first tutu.

Can you believe how cooperative Grayson was?  She rocks.  :)

Afterwards, Amy and I took Grayson for her first girls lunch out.  It was fun Amy and Grayson!

khristen : She is too precious! You did a great job capturing her softness!! (08/17/09, 08:52)
Martitia: Jill, I thought the pictures were just beautiful but when I watched the webshow I was in awe. You did have great subjects but your work is also great!! (08/17/09, 06:03)
Dara: this was a treat! a great story and beautiful photos. I think little Grayson favors her granddaddy Tommy. A lot prettier, though:)haha (08/12/09, 05:25)
Jill Higgins: Hi!  Thanks so much for your sweet words.  It was my pleasure - Grayson is a total sweetie!  :) (08/11/09, 07:33)
Carole: We are the grandparents, so we are somewhat prejudiced about our baby.  However, I would have never guessed that a photographer could ensure a true reflection of Grayson´s world in such a sweet way.  These pictures not only captured our hearts, but captured her personality and that beautiful bond between mother and child (although her Daddy´s voice is the one that makes her smile the most).  Thank you, Jill, for creating such a wonderful memory for our sweet Grayson!   (08/11/09, 07:29)

Debbie and Trevor: Post 2: Moon Palace - Cancun, Mexico
Tuesday, August 04, 2009 | Weddings

Debbie and Trevor were married in Mexico - if you missed their wedding day blog post - check it out here.

We really didn't have time to get photos of them on their wedding day, so I'm so glad they had planned a day after session.

There were quite a few weddings taking place that day, so the salon was running behind and Debbie was late getting back to her room to go to the ceremony.  Tall, black clouds were forming outside, and thunder was booming in the distance - I was secretly afraid she was going to get soaked and we wouldn't have any "fresh" photos of them.  I [sort of] grabbed her out of the room to get a quick "just in case" photo of her out in the hallway as we headed down to meet the horse and carriage.  :)

And because we were so short on time - I totally tried to work a creative shot playing off the mirror in the elevator on the way down.  You work with what you've got right?  :)  Thank goodness Debbie is so photogenic!

I snapped this because I liked the composition AND it looked like Debbie was striking a ferosh pose  I think she was really just checking out the clouds in the distance and trying not to stress out.  lol

We did manage to squeeze in a few photos of them while the tables were being re-set for the reception...

Debbie and Trevor are the best and had planned a day after session.  We decided to meet at 6:15 - just a few minutes before sunrise.  Well let me tell you - I have shot many weddings and many portrait sessions at the beach.  I know that fog can be a problem, so I made sure I was outside early to give my lens time to adjust.  Well...it didn't.  My camera was giving me lemons, so we just decided to make lemonade.  I love the soft, dreamy look we got from the condensation.

I was taking my lens off and wiping it down every few minutes just to try to get some "clear" shots.

Debbie and Trevor have the best family and friends.  You won't believe this - they were up with them to witness their day after sesssion.  How awesome is that?

The transition into the water - ha.

Debbie was so funny "stopping the waves" with her feet!  :)

Next we waded out in the water...

Don't worry...it wasn't really dusk anymore.  I just wanted the sky to look as though it were.  Believe  me - I have watched enough shark weeks to know not to play around in shallow waters at dusk or sunset.

Then we went a little deeper.  It looks like I wasn't very close to them because I was using a wide angle lens, but I was really right in front of them.

And then...I felt something brush across my leg.  I couldn't see it, but I knew what the burning meant and bolted out of the water...

I think I yelled, "Get out of the water," but apparently it came out more like, "OWWWW!" because Debbie and Trevor didn't budge.  They looked at me like I was crazy...until the jellyfish found Debbie.

Yes - the sweet, gorgeous, wonderful bride was also attacked by a jellyfish!  Things were just not going the way they were planned.  :(

I won't lie - it hurt and I got welts - but they were gone by the next day.  I guess it really wasn't that bad as far as jellyfish stings go.  I hope Debbie recovered as quickly.

With that said, we decided to go jump in the pool and see if the water would help the burning before calling it quits.

I guess I'm a little glad that jellyfish found us because I love these pool photos...    :)

If we forget about the jellyfish...I can say the day after session was really fun!  Thanks Debbie and Trevor for being so willing to do whatever!

I'm still a little sad that I missed the kite shot though.  Trevor's mom has the neatest morning ritual of flying a kite.  I really wanted to get a shot of her, but she had disappeared.  Next time!  :)

Michelle: wow - talk about sacrificing yourself for the shot! i´ve had a jellyfish sting before, and that hurts way more than you are letting on, brave lady. FYI - vinegar is supposed to help with the sting - beach-side restaurants usually have some on hand for such occasions. (09/05/09, 06:03)

Debbie and Trevor: Moon Palace - Cancun, Mexico
Monday, August 03, 2009 | Weddings

Debbie and Trevor sent the cutest save the date surprises to their guests, and I knew their wedding would be great.  The invitations that followed were just as fabulous.  So needless to say, I was so excited to travel to Mexico for their beautiful destination wedding.

The resort that Debbie and Trevor chose, Moon Palace is great because it is quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of other areas of Cancun.  The resort has a really wide beachfront and offers a view of the Cancun strip.

Debbie's Jim Hjelm gown was gorgeous and the sandy color was perfect for a destination beach wedding!

Her Kate Spade were pretty awesome too.  :)

I love the sparkly wedding bands...

And what is cuter than a precious, little flower girl?  Kaelyn totally charmed me.

After returning from a trip to the salon, Debbie helped Kaelyn and then quickly slid into her dress.  Storm clouds were looming and thunder was booming in the distance.

Debbie was picked up at her room and taken to the ceremony site by a horse-drawn carriage.

As soon as we were all inside the gazebo, the rain came down.  As you can see - everything worked out fine.  Debbie and Trevor didn't even seem to notice, and we all stayed completely dry.

Isn't her bouquet gorgeous?

I was very impressed with everyone at Moon Palace.  The rain soaked everything and the reception site, but they dried the chairs, put out new tablecloths, and completely re-set the tables.

All of her guests received bags with personalized mints and beautiful sand and shell filled votives.  Mine is currently in the kitchen, and is a great reminder of the trip!

Everyone also got starfish - love them!  Mine will be a great addition to my Christmas tree this year.

The outdoor reception area was so pretty and really blended in well with the amazing ocean view.

I can't tell you how sweet these two are - I adore them!

The first dance...

I could spend a whole paragraph going through their guest list and telling you how much I adore them as well.  They are all New Yorkers, and I hope I get to see them again!

A sweet, peaceful dinner with a cool, calm ocean breeze...

Let me tell you - their guests could dance - and you know how much I love that!  :)

Hmmm....what do you think Kharon and Devin are saying??

The fun continued...
