Yeah Lindsi!

I have to give a shout out to my photographer friend Lindsi Jones. She is finishing up her senior year at Valdosta State University, and she received an honorable mention award for one of her entries into the student art competition. Just making it into the show is an honor, so winning an award is spectacular!
You can read the newspaper article here.
Be sure to stop by her blog to see her winning image and leave her a comment.
Way to go Lindsi!

1 Peter 1:3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
We had a house full of company for Easter weekend. Brian's uncle (Andy - who is actually the same age) came to visit with his wife and four children. It was my first time meeting Ashley and the girls.
They drove all night to get here, so while Ashley napped for a little while Saturday, the girls and I decorated an Easter cake and anything else we could think of that they could top with the left over icing!
The girls did quite well. Let's just say they would put me out of the cake decorating business in no time! :D

We were so happy to wake up the next morning to see that the Easter bunny managed to find the girls at our house. He left a note for them and baskets of candy and little toys. I'm not so sure how I feel about the Easter bunny now after he left those extra loud chicken whistles.

You've probably heard of "Christmas in Dixie," but have you heard of Easter in Dixie? :) After church, we went to Dixie (Dixie, GA) for a great Easter lunch at Elizabeth's beautiful home.
After we all joined hands to sing the doxology before lunch, we counted off and there were approximately 80 people there! Elizabeth welcomed everyone and introduced her new granddaughter Winter.
This is my famous cousin Larry - who also happens to be Elizabeth's son and Winter's dad. You may be wondering why he is famous. Well...he is known for starting all of the hottest, new clothing trends. But I'm just not sure how this new short tie thing is going to go. What do you think?
Larry is also the chief prize egg hider.
This is my friend Amy. We went to school together from kindergarten up and were rommates for a while after college. While Larry is known for setting clothing trends, Amy is known for her gorgeous, thick, shiny blonde hair! She does also have talents related to clothing and she is a super nice person. Just don't ask her to share her tic tacs.
Amy is the chief egg hider.
And let the egg hunting begin...
This is Amy's niece in her beautiful, handmade heirloom dress. This is where Amy's clothing talents come in - the dress was made by Amy!
Lindsay's two adorable children: Brooks and Sage
The cute, all boy redhead on the bottom is Jack, and he belongs to Amy. He is comparing loot with his equally cute cousin Ben.
I love his Easter bucket!
Beautiful Harley...
After the egg hunt we went inside to see Winter who was napping peacefully. I love these shots of her surrounded by her favorite admirers.
I also love this one of her holding her mama's hand.
A couple more...
I hear that Winter's first word was hippopotamus - and even more impressive - she said it when she was only a few days old. I'm only halfway sure that I believe it. I hear that others have seen proof, but I am still waiting on that evidence to come in.
Thanks to Elizabeth for always being such a gracious hostess!

EVENT HOST: QUITMAN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
QUITMAN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH WOMEN'S GROUP: SOUL SISTERS
BAND: SISTER GRACE
As a crowd gathered on the Brooks County Courthouse lawn for the Sister Grace concert, the weather could not have been more cooperative. A gentle breeze enhanced the warm spring temperature that hovered around 80 degrees.
Concert attendees set up their imaginative picnics that ranged from fun, beach blanket setups to cowboy casual to an elegant beach theme complete with fine silver.
The music of Sister Grace couldn't have been better. Be sure to check out their website if you are not familiar with them. This all-girl gospel band is driven to speak to this world with original lyrics that read like contemporary psalms.
Visit their blog if you would like to purchase of copy of their new CD which was produced by legendary Johnny Sandlin. They also have a link to itunes where you can download the music.
Thanks to Quitman United Methodist Church for hosting this event, thanks to Sister Grace for sharing your talents with us, and thanks to everyone who came and made it a successful event!

Sam and Alex's Party at the Flatwoods

Saturday night Brian and I headed out to the Flatwoods to a party for Sam (my brother) and Alex. Sam and Alex had a destination wedding in Key West in January. A group of friends had a party for them at Jim and Jana's cabin.
We were worried all day that it might rain, but the clouds rolled by and the evening was perfect. A few shots of the scenery...
The party was lots of fun. In fact, I put my camera down soon after arriving so I don't have many "people" shots! :D
I loved the candle-lit mason jars dangling in the tents!
Check back tomorrow and I should have a few images up of cute new babies in the family!

SEE THE SLIDESHOW: RYLEE'S SLIDESHOW
VIEW ALL THE PHOTOS OR MAKE PURCHASES: PICTAGE LAB
Happy 2nd Birthday Rylee! Yesterday I met Stephanie and Rylee on North Court Street in Quitman to get some two year old photos. Time flies - it doesn't seem like it has been a year since we did her one year photos.
It was a little chilly, and Rylee started out with a bright red sweater...
...but that soon came off so she could show off her cute, spring sundress!
I love this time of year when the azaleas are in bloom.
Stephanie gave Rylee this precious little doll for an early birthday present.
Rylee looks like she has been doing this for years, huh? :)
Modeling is tough work...sometimes you have to sit for a short break!
Look at these beautiful eyes...
...and cute little feet...
A few warmed up black and whites...
So cute...
Having fun...
I think I'm hooked on the "faces" collages...
