Delverlon and Travall: Invitation
|
|
Have I ever mentioned how awesome my clients are? Okay - I know I say it all the time but it's true! Yesterday I got a great surprise when I went out to check my mail...
I didn't have any idea what it was or who it was from. When I opened up mailing tube there was another box inside with my name on it. I still didn't know what it was - but it smelled wonderful.
It turns out that it was a message in a bottle. How much fun is that?
I love all things related to the beach so this was a GREAT thing to pull out of the mail on a rainy January afternoon.
It was an invitation to join Delverlon and Travall for their Mayan Riviera wedding next July. I have not met them yet, but I already know that they are going to be fabulous.
Delverlon and Travall: I hope I will be able to meet you before then - but if not - I can't wait to meet you in sunny Mexico! |

Mariah and Zack: Goodwood - Tallahassee, Florida
|
|
If you are a regular blog reader you have probably seen my posts where I sometimes go spend weekends in Florida at the river. We almost always see gators, and my northern blog readers are usually amused by that.
Although I didn't go to the river last weekend, I did go to Florida and spend my weekend with a bunch of gators of a different sort. Being the Georgia girl that I am leaves me wondering...is it okay to like these gators so much?? :D
I'm teasing of course - but I promise that northerners and southerners alike will be amused because this group was so much fun!
When we first arrived we were greeted by a beautiful rainbow dancing across the walls of the carriage house. If that isn't a good luck sign I don't know what is.
The setting was perfect for Mariah and Zack's down to earth personalities, and I tried to put the carriage house to good use as I photographed Mariah's beautiful wedding dress.
I worked fast to have a little fun with the ring shot...
[disclaimer: do not try this at home kids.] lol
I love this shot of Mariah taking a deep breath as she slipped into her dress.
Meanwhile Zack was taking care of some necessary details...long johns and beer. Yes we were in Florida, but it was a cold day!
Mariah and Zack chose to see each other before the ceremony - which I think is great! You can tell they are so sweet. Who wouldn't love these two?
The weather miraculously warmed up in time for the ceremony, and it turned out to be quite pleasant outdoors. I loved the rustic beauty of the day.
When I met Zack and Mariah (and her awesome parents) back in the fall, Zack had long hair. I was surprised to see it short, but he looks great both ways. You can see how happy he was as he waited for Mariah.
Mariah and her dad heading down the aisle...
Goodwood was such a gorgeous location for the wedding...a beautiful, old southern home surrounded by huge oak trees.
I loved this moment during the ceremony...
A quick shot of Mariah after the ceremony...
Mariah and Zack...
Then we walked back to the carriage house for the reception.
Their guests were eagerly lined up for the oysters that were waiting for them outside the carriage house during cocktail hour.
They certainly knew how to please their guests with southern fried seafood and sides that were beautifully presented.
The food was provided by the SeineYard, and it was hard to resist the creamy cheese grits, the fried okra, and catfish that tempted me.
Tricia Willis was on hand to make everything look fabulous and run smoothly. When I arrived and asked Mrs. Jensen how she was doing she said, "Great! How could I not be with Tricia taking care of everything." Working a wedding with Tricia is always a treat. I have mentioned before that she is so super cool that she doesn't advertise or have a website. Send me an email if you want to contact her, and if you are super nice I will tell you how to contact her. :)
I love the koozies. Maybe they would have looked a little better in black and red...but still cute. ha...kidding.
Aren't the earthy centerpieces great?
Good times...
This cake was not only pretty, but it had to be the best smelling cake ever. They are quite lucky it was still in one piece by the time the cake cutting rolled around.
And speaking of rolling around - this is how these guys roll...
I'm not quite sure what was going on here (something related to the gators) but everyone was having a large time.
The first dance...
Mr. Jensen was really getting down on the dance floor - who knew he had all those moves?
This is Mariah's brother. As you can see - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
It wasn't long before all of the guests were workin' it on the dance floor. I loved it and could share dance photos with you all day but I had to pick a few...
What a fun way to start 2009 - thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day. I had a great time and enjoyed being around all of you!
And...uhhh...we know who caught the bouquet so I hope to see you all again soon! lol

Thursday Update!

I'm so happy to have my new website live. I always seem to forget how much work goes into getting a new site launched.
Although you may recognize the splash page as being the same - the site is brand new on both the weddings and portraits side.
My site was designed using showit sites by Nick Haskins. Nick worked really hard on it and even offered a special for all of my blog readers. So...if you are looking to have a new website designed, shoot Nick an email. Tell him you saw his special offer on my blog and you will receive $200 off of a custom build!
I also get frequent questions about who designed my blog. It was made by Ross Tanner. Ross specializes in blogs and is almost finished with another blog that he is making for me for another business. He offered to give my blog readers $100 off of a custom build. He currently has a waiting list of 30 clients though, so you may have to wait a while.
OH! I also need to announce the winner of the $10 gift card to Barnes & Noble. The winner is... Duane Hogg!
Scroll down if you would like to see all of the contests and special offers that are going on this week.

In case you have missed the last few posts - it is all about fun this week at Jill Higgins Photography! Be sure to check in several times a day every day this week for lots of contests and specials. We are celebrating the new year and a new website that will launch tomorrow.
Maybe giving away free beer on my blog is not the classiest thing to do...but really...what is more fun than the idea of free beer? About a year ago I stumbled upon this website where you can send someone free beer.
No worries if beer isn't your thing. If you win you will receive a gift certificate to a restaurant near you. It can be used for anything...not just beer! :)
So leave your comments below and tell me why you would love some free beer! :)
One winner will be chosen randomly at 7pm. But check back at 3:00 today for another great special and an opportunity to win a $250 spa package!

In case you are just joining us - we are celebrating this week. It's a new year, and I have a new website on the way. Early this morning I posted a contest for hand dipped oreos.
The names of everyone who left a comment were put in a bag and one winner was chosen.
The lucky winner is...Shari Barnes!
No worries if you didn't win or didn't have a chance to enter. Check back in the morning for a new contest.
And don't miss out on the super sale on canvas prints.
The new website should be up Wednesday. |
