Vermont...Here I Come!
Monday, February 01, 2010 | Random

We will be heading out for a wonderful (but short) winter vacation in Vermont this week.  Why Vermont?  Well...I had some miles that I needed to use before they expired and a winter destination sounded great at the time since it's never really winter in Georgia.  Right?  Well normally.  It has been so cold here lately that I am almost wishing we had booked tickets to somewhere tropical.

Since I am pregnant I won't be able to do normal activities that are so much fun on a winter vacation: skiing, snow machining, etc.  So what's a girl to do?

Do you realize what company is headquartered in Vermont...

That's right people!  :)  Ben & Jerry's!!!  We will be touring the factory and doing at least a little indulging.

Of course we will also be checking out a creamery, a sugarhouse, and so much more.  (Mostly related to food - I must confess.)  :)

I won't be posting on my blog while I am gone, but I will be posting updates on facebook.  Be sure to check in for all the yumminess.

Jill Higgins: Awesome Courtney!!  We actually hit up Magic Hat when we got into town.  I got to watch Brian sample some beers - that was fun - ha!   (02/04/10, 05:48)
Courtney Hitchcock: Hey Jill! I have been to Vermont several times and I LOVE IT!  It´s so beautiful!  Burlington is a great place to shop and explore.. there is the Ben & Jerry´s also (which you mentioned).. there is also a brewery called Magic Hat.. (not sure if Brian likes beer, but it would be fun to explore also).  In Middlebury there is a great resturant called Fire and Ice!  It is a cute house that was renovated and you can request a private table if you wish to make it more romantic.. they also have an amazing salad bar that is around an old Criscraft boat (probably spelled that wrong but it´s beauiful).. there used to be a place called Dog Team Tavern but it burned down :( or I would send you there as well!  It´s also really cool, becasue in Vermont you aren´t allow to have road signs so all you see is the beautiful country side.. and it is beautiful!  Also if you are feeling adventerous, take the bridge over (Hwy 17) to upstate New York and visit Lake Champlain or better yet Lake George (this is where I vacationed as a child).. it´s beautiful!  Silver Bay (YMCA Conference Center) is just amazing.. and if you are interested in history there are a few forts there along the way.. and the first boy scout camp fire ring ever!
